Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police on Thursday organised a one-day capacity building training programme for officers on the investigation of terror-related cases in collaboration with the National Investigation Agency (NIA) here.
Senior officers including inspector from districts across Odisha participated in the training programme.
NIA Director General Y.C Modi, Odisha DGP BK Sharma and senior officers of NIA and Odisha Police participated in the training programme.
NIA DG presented the worldwide menace of terrorism, latest developments in the area and risk factors faced by India.
Outlining the importance of professional and scientific investigation and thorough knowledge of laws in dealing with such cases including UAP Act, Modi encouraged the participants to make the best use of the sessions by senior officers of NIA.
DGP Odisha stressed on the need for professional investigation in prosecuting terror criminals, especially LWE.
Odisha Police has successfully investigated the case of Sabyasachi Panda, a Maoist Cadre and one case ended in conviction. The process needs to be taken forward, he said.
He also emphasised on effective
financial investigation.
