Mumbai/Bhubaneswar: Reliance Jio continued to lead in the average 4G download speed chart published by telecom regulator TRAI for September.
Jio achieved 21.0 Mbps average download speed in the month of September, which is more than double of Airtel and triple of Vodafone and Idea.
Reliance Jio was the fastest 4G operator in 2018 with highest average download speed in all 12 months. This year again, Jio has topped the list in all nine months so far.
The performance of Bharti Airtel improved marginally in September to 8.3 Mbps from 8.2 Mbps in August, according to the data published by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
Though Vodafone and Idea Cellular have merged their businesses and now operate as Vodafone Idea, TRAI published their network performance separately.
Average 4G download speed on Vodafone network dipped to 6.9 Mbps in September from 7.7 Mbps in August.
Idea registered marginal improvement in average download speed from 6.1 Mbps in August to 6.4Mbps in the month of September.
Idea topped the average 4G upload speed chart with 5.4 Mbps in September, an improvement from 5.1 Mbps in the month of August. Vodafone and Airtel network registered average 4G upload speed at 5.2 Mbps and 3.1 Mbps respectively in September, while Jio achieved 4.2 Mbps average upload speed.
The average speed is computed by TRAI based on data it collects with the help of its MySpeed application on a real-time basis.
In Odisha circle, as per the TRAI 4G Download Speed Chart, Reliance Jio again topped in average 4G download speed in the month of September.
JIO registered an average 4G download speed of 22.7 Mbps in the state in September while Vodafone clocked 13.7 Mbps, followed by 11.6 Mbps of Bharti Airtel and 7.0 Mbps of Idea, as per the data published by TRAI.
