Partial shutdown of Bhubaneswar airport may not affect flight operation

Bhubaneswar airport to remain partially shut from December

Bhubaneswar: The flight operation will remain partially closed at Bhubaneswar airport from December 1st instead of November 1st this year, said an official on Thursday.

“We will take up runway recarpeting work from 1st December, 2019. So, there will be no runway closure till November 30,” said Bhubaneswar airport director Suresh Chandra Hota.

Earlier, Hota had informed that Bhubaneswar airport will remain partially shut for eight months beginning from 1st November to carry out runway recarpeting.

The re-carpeting of the runway is a regular maintenance work and was last taken up at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in 2007.

The Airport Authority of India (AAI) headquarters informed the airlines about the Bhubaneswar airport partial shutdown.
