Bhubaneswar: Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar is going to have a Cardiac Centre of Excellence, said Health Minister Naba Kishore Das on Wednesday.
Das said that efforts have already started to begin with the modernization of the Cardiology Department.
“There will be no space crunch and very soon the operation theaters for heart surgery will come up. Besides, modern equipment, special Intensive Care Unit (ICU), additional beds will be procured where provisions of complex Angiography, Device Closure, Electrophysiological Studies will be available,” the Minister said.
Measures are being taken to rope in more doctors and associates, he added.
Dr. Prabhat Kumar Das, eminent Cardiologist visited Capital Hospital today and took stock of the environment in the Department.
Dr. Das, with about 30 years of experience in Cardiac Surgery and treatment will join the hospital, leaving his present assignment as HoD, Cardiology Department of Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Bengaluru.
“After seeing the places, present infrastructure, outdoor treatment, etc, I feel quite sure that there will be no delay in making the hospital’s Cardiology Department a Centre of Excellence,” said Dr Das.
He expressed his satisfaction to work for Odisha, appreciating the endeavour of the Government in the health service sector. Construction of building for the purpose has been completed.
At present, around 3 to 3.5 thousand patients are being registered daily in the outdoor service. Out of this, more than 100 patients daily are coming for treatment of Cardiac related problems.
