Cyclone Bulbul updates: Heavy rainfall in coastal districts, trees uprooted


Bhubaneswar: The coastal districts in Odisha are experiencing heavy rainfall and gusty wind under the impact of Cyclone Bulbul, which is moving towards the West Bengal coast on Saturday.

Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena said that they have received information about the uprooting of trees in Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Bhadrak districts.

He said NDRF, ODRAF, police and fire personnel have been engaged in clearing road blockade.

The SRC also informed that several people have been evacuated to safer places in Kendrapara, Balasore and Jagatsinghpur districts.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said gale wind speed 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph is prevailing along and off Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak and Balasore districts of Odisha.

It also forecast that gale wind speed 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph is likely to continue for next 3 hours along and off Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, and for next 6 hours along and off Bhadrak and Balasore districts of Odisha.
