Maharashtra politics: Fadnavis sworn in as CM, Pawar as deputy CM

Mumbai: In a dramatic turn of events in Maharashtra politics, BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as the chief minister of Maharashtra and NCP’s Ajit Pawar as deputy chief minister on Saturday morning.

The oath was administered by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhawan.

After taking the oath, Devendra Fadnavis said Maharashtra needed a stable government and not a ‘khichdi’ government.

President’s Rule, which was imposed in Maharashtra on November 12, has been revoked.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated them after the government formation.

“Congratulations to @Dev_Fadnavis Ji and @AjitPawarSpeaks Ji on taking oath as the CM and Deputy CM of Maharashtra respectively. I am confident they will work diligently for the bright future of Maharashtra,” tweeted Modi.
