Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Friday dissolved Governing Bodies or Managing Committees of all non-government aided degree colleges coming under the purview of the Higher Education department with immediate effect.
The Governing Bodies or Managing Committees of all non-government aided degree colleges have been dissolved except autonomous colleges and colleges established by minority communities, said a notification issued by the Higher Education department.
Where the college is situated at the district headquarters, the additional district magistrate of the concerned district shall act as president of the Governing Body or Managing Committee.
Where the college is situated outside the district headquarters, the sub-collector of the sub-division concerned as act as the president, said the notification.
On Thursday, Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo informed that no politicians will now onwards be inducted into the governing body of the degree colleges in the state.
The Minister said MLAs will not head the governing body or managing committee of the colleges.
Only
educationists or academicians will be nominated to these committees, he said.
