Bhubaneswar: The hearings of Promotion Adalats for Odisha government employees have started in six different places in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy and five Additional Chief Secretary-rank officers have started hearing the grievances of the state government employees deprived of promotions.
The first phase hearing will continue for three days and conclude on January 30. The next round of Promotion Adalats would be held on February 27, 28 and 29. The cases not listed in the first phase would be taken up in the second round.
The government has received as many as 8,909 applications from aggrieved employees of various departments for disposal.
In the first phase, 2,273 applications would be taken up, said sources.
Cases of the aggrieved employees, who were eligible for promotion by December 31, 2019 but deprived of the same, would be heard at the Adalats.
A record number of 3,166 government employees were given promotion in the last week of December under the 5T initiative after the Chief Minister’s directive.
Hearing venue of Promotion Adalats
Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy will preside over the Promotion Adalat at Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell. He will hear the cases of Revenue and Disaster Management, Planning and Coordination, Rural Development, Steel and Mines and Forest and Environment departments.
Development Commissioner (DC) Suresh Chandra Mohapatra will hear the petitions of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Public Enterprise, School and Mass Education, Sports and Youth Services, Labour and ESI, Skill Development and Technical Education, Excise and I&PR Departments at Gopabandhu Academy of Administration.
Likewise, Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra will hear the applications of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Commerce and Transport, SSEPD, Water Resources, Works, Fisheries and Cooperation at Krushi Bhawan Auditorium.
Besides, Additional Chief Secretary Raj Kumar Sharma is also addressing the applications of Women and Child Development, Finance, Energy, Handloom, Textiles and Handicrafts and Tourism Departments.
Additional Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena is taking up the applications of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Parliamentary Affairs, Health and Family Welfare, ST and SC Development, Home and GA&PG at SIRD conference hall.

Chief Secretary Mona Sharma will dispose off the applications of Panchayat Raj
and Drinking Water, Law, Housing and Urban Development, Electronics and
Information Technology, Industries and MSME at IDCO 5th floor conference hall.
