Reduce fines under new MV Act: Youth Congress

Bhubaneswar: A delegation of youth Congress on Saturday met Odisha Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera and demanded reducing fines for violation of traffic rules under the amended Motor Vehicle (MV) Act 2019.

They demanded fixation of traffic fines at Rs 1,000 and relaxation of traffic norms for 6 months to prepare documents like driving license, insurance, and pollution certificate.

Notably, the state government has implemented the new MV Act from March 1 after six-month of relaxation. The state transport authority collected over Rs 1 crore in 24 hours.
