Bhubaneswar: Flight operations are likely to resume at Bhubaneswar airport after the extended nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus ends, said sources.

However, the final approval is awaited from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the sources said.

The authorities of Bhubaneswar airport have started implementing procedures to comply with social distancing measures which will become a norm when air travel resumes in a controlled manner after the lockdown.

Biju Patnaik International Airport director VV Rao said that steps are being taken at the airport terminal to facilitate the passengers to sit in the lounge area without touching any object.

“We are taking steps to ensure that check-in of the passengers at the entrance to the terminal and checking of tickets are done by the security staff without any physical contact. The identity and the ticket of each passenger will be verified through special equipment,” said Rao.
