Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is planning to engage food aggregators like Swiggy and Zomato to start home delivery of alcohol during COVID-19 lockdown in the state, said sources in the Excise department on Thursday.
The state is likely to allow home delivery of alcohol in the next few days.
A delivery charge of Rs 50 for liquor purchase of Rs 500 and Rs 100 for liquor purchase of up to Rs 1000 will be applicable, sources added.
The food aggregators will introduce measures such as mandatory age verification and user authentication to fulfil orders.
The customers can pay through the concerned food aggregator app by mentioning address details.
The consumer has to mention name and address, mobile number/Whatsapp number, EPIC/Aadhaar number for age verification, name and location of neasrest retailer and items required with quantity.
A consumer can book maximum 5 bulk litres of beer and 2.5 bulk litres of IMFL.
Online delivery order shall be received from 7 am to 1 pm and delivery ensured till 6 pm. In case of huge orders received in a single day, the delivery would be made the next day, said sources.
