Zomato, Swiggy to home deliver liquor in municipal corporations in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Food aggregators Zomato and Swiggy will deliver liquor at the doorsteps in the municipal corporations and Puri municipality in Odisha from Sunday.

While Zomato will deliver liquor in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur and Puri Swiggy will deliver liquor in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, and Rourkela, said the Excise department in a statement.

“Subsequent to issue of notification by Excise department permitting home delivery of liquor, two food aggregators namely Zomato and Swiggy applied for permission to participate in home delivery of liquor,” said the statement.

“As requested by them, permission has been granted to Zomato to operate in Municipal Corporations of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Berhampur as well as Puri Municipality whereas Swiggy to Municipal Corporations of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur and Rourkela,” it said.

Update Odisha had earlier reported that the state government is planning to engage food aggregators like Zomato and Swiggy for home delivery of liquor in Odisha.

The Odisha government has allowed home delivery of liquor from Sunday.
