434 new COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 434 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s tally to 3,20,017, said a health department official on Thursday.

Five more people died in the state of due to COVID-19 as the toll rose to 1,755, he said.

Three persons lost their lives in the Ganjam district, and one person each in Khurda and Nayagarh districts.

Of the new cases, 249 were reported from different quarantine centres and 185 are local contacts.

Khurda district, of which state capital Bhubaneswar is a part, recorded the highest 54 new cases, followed by Angul (45) and Sundargarh (41).

At present, Odisha has 4,815 active cases, while 3,13,394 patients have so far recovered.
