Reservation for students of govt schools in medical, engineering courses


Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Monday approved a resolution for reservation of seats for students of government-run schools in medical and engineering courses.

A high-powered committee to be formed under the chairmanship of a retired high court judge will give final shape to Cabinet decision. The recommendations will be implemented from next academic year.

The Cabinet also approved a proposal for mandatory submission of property details by elected representatives and government employees annually.

The people’s representatives starting from Sarpanches to the Chief Minister and state government officials from entry level to chief secretary will provide their property list every year.

It will be kept on the public domain for the accessibility of everyone.
