Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has cancelled the weekly holiday (Sunday) of government employees in view of cyclonic storm Jawad, which is likely to make landfall in Puri district.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena directed the officials to stay at their respective headquarters.
Leave of government employees are hereby cancelled and they are required to return from leavel those who are availing, the SRC informed.
Cyclonic storm Jawad is likely to make landfall near the coastal areas of Puri district, informed Jena on Friday.
The landfall may occur in between the evening of 4th December and morning of 5th December and the wind speed is likely to be around 90-100 kmph gusting to 110.
The wind speed may gradually decrease after touching the Odisha coast, added SRC.
The fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea during the landfall process.
The cyclone will have its maximum impact over the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Khorda, Jagatsinghpur, and Kendrapara, he added.
