Cyclone Sitrang weakens


The cyclonic storm “Sitrang” pronounced as “Si-Trang” over coastal Bangladesh has moved north-northeastward with a speed of 56 kmph during past six hours and weakened into a Deep Depression and lay centered at over Bangladesh near latitude Dhaka, 60 km north-northwest of Agartala, and 160 km southwest of Shillong.

This was informed by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a bulletin today.

“It is very likely to continue to move north-northeastwards and weaken into a depression during next 3 hours and further into a well marked low pressure area during subsequent 6 hours,” IMD said.

Warning:

Light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, & Tripura on 25th October.
