BMC bans movement of cattle on Bhubaneswar roads


Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has banned the movement of cattle on the roads to avoid traffic obstructions and accidents.

The BMC said the movement of cattle on the city roads has been causing unnecessary obstructions in vehicular traffic and mishaps for motorists.

“The traffic on BMC road is ever increasing with it the road accidents are on the increase. It is observed that several of the road accidents are caused due to direct vehicular hits to the animal or because the driver of the vehicle had to turn to avoid hitting the animals on road,” said the BMC in a notification.

It said most of the mishaps are occurring at night due to poor visibility.

The civil authority said movement of cattle on city roads has been declared illegal.

Persons allowing their cattle to roam in the city road of BMC will be treated as illegal and they will be lifted and will be maintained at the AWC at Jamukoli, AWC at Jatni Municipality & Govind Go Sevashram, Puri,”added the notification.
