Fake note worth Rs 31 lakh seized in Odisha’s Balangir


In a huge catch, the STF of Odisha police seized fake Indian currency note worth Rs 31,27,500 in Balangir district. The cops arrested one Lingaraj Behera (50) of Kantamal Kegoan under police limits Kalahandi district.

On the basis of reliable information, STF with the help of Balangir district police detected a case of illegal possession of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) on Wednesday evening near the main gate of bus stand park at Titalagarh under Titlagarh Police Station limits.

During search, Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) of Rs. 31,27,500 and other incriminating articles were recovered and seized from his possession.

The accused person could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of such Indian Fake Currency Notes, for which he has been arrested and forwarded to the court of SDJM, Titilagarh, said STF official.

The seized FICN Notes will be sent to Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudrana Pvt. Ltd., Mudrana Nagar, Salaboni, Pachima Medinapore, West Bengal for examination and opinion.

Till date STF has seized Rs 78,70,600 FICN Notes including this seizure.
