BJD’s Mamata Mohanta resigns from Rajya Sabha

Bhubaneswar: BJD’s Rajya Sabha member Mamata Mohanta has resigned from the upper house.

Her resignation has been accepted by Rajya Sabha Chairman Jaydeep Dhankhar.

Mamata Mahanta was elected to RS in April 2020. She has only 18 months left before her 6-year tenure comes to an end.

She has also resigned from the primary membership of BJD.

“I feel that there is no requirement of the services of myself as well as my community in the Biju Janata Dal. Therefore I have taken this hard decision in public interest,” said Mohanta in a letter to BJD president Naveen Patnaik.
