OMBADC Supports Modernisation Work At TTI Takatpur

Baripada: To prepare Odisha’s youth for evolving industries and meet the growing demand for skilled professionals across national & international organisations, a significant emphasis is being placed on revamping Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) and Polytechnic Institutes while strengthening their infrastructure.

In 1957, TTI was established in Takatpur at the tribal dominated Mayurbhanj district, to enhance the vocational skills of students through technical education and training. This historic institution in the North Odisha now offers training in 15 trades, attracting students from Mayurbhanj and neighboring districts, who are eager to hone their skills.

With the financial support from Odisha Mineral Bearing Areas Development Corporation (OMBADC), the Technical Training Institute (TTI) in Baripada, Mayurbhanj district has been upgraded. This will further enhance the skills of the students and elevate their career to new heights.

With financial support from OMBADC, an Advanced CNC Milling and Turning Lab has also been set up at TTI, Takatpur, Baripada. This facility is equipped with industry standard machinery, providing students with hands-on training opportunities. By getting trained with these ultramodern facilities, students are developing skills that align with modern industrial requirements, preparing themselves for the evolving global workforce.

“Under the ‘Skilled In Odisha’ initiative, there is a strong focus on enhancing the skills of the youth. With support from OMBADC, advanced equipment has been installed in the TTI, greatly benefiting students. The establishment of CNC labs, along with robotic and virtual welding simulators, is helping students meet global industrial standards. This initiative is boosting their career prospects,” says Kandan Majhi, Principal, TTI, Takatpur.

In response to the future demand of industries, a Centre of Excellence in advanced welding has been established in TTI, Takatpur. This facility features advanced welding equipment, including MIG and TIG machines, as well as robotic and virtual welding simulators, to enhance students’ learning experience. By utilising these advanced tools, students can sharpen their skills and achieve new levels of expertise.

Skilled trainers have been appointed to train the students in this advanced laboratory. These trainers go through the ‘Training of Trainers’ program to enhance their skills. The lab also offers short-term training courses. The students secure jobs across various industries post completion of their training.

Currently, there is a significant emphasis on the use of renewable energy worldwide. With the support of OMBADC, a specialized 50 KW ‘Rooftop On-Grid Solar’ system has been installed at the TTI. This initiative plays a crucial role in energy conservation.

With OMBADC’s assistance, the establishment of this advanced facility within TTI premises is fostering skilled workforce from the tribal majority Mayurbhanj district. Many of these youth are securing employment in various mining and industrial organisations. This initiative is contributing positively to the economic growth and sustainable development of the region.
