The deceased has been identified as Prisha Shah, a first-year student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at KIIT.

According to official sources, Prisha was staying in Room No. 111, Campus No. 4 of the KIIT University campus. She is alleged to have taken her own life in the confines of her hostel room.

Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh confirmed the unfortunate incident, stating that Prisha Shah’s body was recovered from one of the girls’ hostels at the prestigious institute.

The Infocity Police Station is currently handling the investigation and was seen conducting inquiries on site.

This incident has also drawn renewed attention to a similar tragedy that occurred earlier at KIIT, where another girl student from Nepal died by suicide. The university faced heavy criticism at the time for its alleged mishandling of the situation.
