Dhenkanal: In a major boost to Odisha’s economic and infrastructural growth, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for industrial and development projects worth over ₹50,000 crore in Dhenkanal district today.
The initiative is part of the state’s vision to transform Odisha into a hub of industrial investment and renewable energy.
Among the major announcements was the launch of solar energy projects worth ₹30,000 crore, aimed at turning Dhenkanal into Odisha’s leading solar power hub. These renewable energy projects align with the government’s broader goal of promoting green energy and ensuring long-term employment generation through sustainable development.
“These projects will create around 26,400 direct and indirect jobs, establishing Dhenkanal as a key district in Odisha’s industrial and energy landscape,” said Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
As part of today’s program, the CM also inaugurated 12 development projects worth ₹112 crore and laid the foundation stones for 10 new projects worth ₹76 crore. These initiatives span across sectors such as infrastructure, industry, and sports.
A highlight of the event was the foundation laying ceremony of the Baji Rout Sports Complex, a tribute to the iconic freedom fighter. The complex will be constructed at Banamaliprasad in Dhenkanal with a budget of ₹120 crore. It will include a football stadium, synthetic athletic track, indoor stadium, hockey training centre, swimming pool, and a 100-bed hostel for athletes.
“The Baji Rout Sports Complex will fuel youth empowerment in Odisha by strengthening sports infrastructure and creating opportunities for young athletes,” CM Majhi added.
The Chief Minister also emphasized the state’s commitment to providing government jobs to the youth. He highlighted that 27,000 vacancies have already been filled, and 40,000 more government job openings are targeted for the current year. To support this, the government has raised the upper age limit to 42 years for applicants seeking government jobs, expanding opportunities for the younger generation.
These initiatives align with the government’s larger mission of “New Odisha, Prosperous Odisha by 2036”, with Dhenkanal playing a significant role in the transformation.
Industry Minister Sampad Chandra Swain lauded the CM’s leadership, saying, “In just six months, Odisha has seen tremendous progress toward becoming an industrially prosperous state.”
The event was also attended by Food Supplies Minister Krushna Chandra Patra, local MLAs, and MPs, who echoed support for the government’s development-driven agenda.
