Bhubaneswar: A meeting was held today at Lok Seva Bhawan under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo regarding the proposal for Central Agricultural University.
The meeting discussed the proposal to open a Central Agricultural University in Sambalpur as per the Central Agricultural University Act, 1992. It will help in producing graduates and post-graduates for global competitiveness in agriculture and allied sciences and will help in increasing productivity and developing sustainable & profitable farming systems in this sector.
The proposed Central Agricultural University will be a game changer for Odisha – it will advance agricultural research, empower farmers and promote innovation in sustainable farming methods, said Deputy Chief Minister Singh Deo.
This decision will prove beneficial in ensuring food and nutritional security for the people by transforming agriculture and allied professions into profitable enterprises.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Finance Department, Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, Suresh Kumar Basith, and Vice Chancellor, OUAT, Dr. Pravat Kumar Raul, who presented many important opinions on the proposal of Central Agricultural University.
