PURI: Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has announced to provide an accidental insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh to all devotees coming to the city during Rath Yatra.
As many as 10 lakh devotees are expected to visit the holy town for the grand festival beginning on July 6. In the case of any devotee dying an unnatural death due to terrorist attack, the collapse of a building, stampede and drowning in and around Srimandir and under the Puri Municipality area, the next of kin of the deceased would be provided with Rs 5 lakh, said SJTA officials.
The insurance coverage will be effective between July 5 and July 17.
After Rath Yatra, many devotees will also visit the temple throughout the year. If any devotee dies on the premises of Jagannath temple, its next of kin will also get Rs 5 lakh, said SJTA officials.
The insurance has covered all the devotees, temple servitors and government employees.
