Hariprasad resigns after panchayat poll debacle in Odisha


Bhubaneswar: Following the dismal performance of party in the recently concluded Odisha panchayat elections, B.K. Hairprasad has tendered resignation to the General Secretary post of the All India Congress Committee and membership of the AICC Working Committee.

Hariprasad, who is party in-charge in Odisha, has tendered his resignation owning moral responsibility for the Congress party’s dismal performance in elections.

The Congress party was relegated to third position in the Zila Parishad elections while BJP emerged as principal opposition to ruling BJD.

Congress leaders of the state blamed the AICC General Secretary Hariprasad for the party’s drubbing in ZP polls.
