Bhubaneswar: Private hospitals in Odisha will remain closed for 24 hours demanding an amendment to the Odisha Clinical Establishment Act, 1990.
The private hospitals will remain closed from 6 am on Friday till 6 am on Saturday.
All private clinics and diagnostic centres will also remain closed during the 24-hour-long strike, said sources.
The decision was taken by the All Odisha Private Medical Establishment Forum (AOPMEF). It is of the view that the Odisha Clinical Establishment Act, 1990 was a hindrance for easy registration and renewal of private health facilities in the State.
In view of the strike, the Odisha government has asked all government health institutions including Government Medical Colleges & Hospitals to be in readiness to meet the emergency situation arising due to the strike.
They have also been asked to ensure that patients do not suffer following the strike.
“We are in readiness to meet the situation,” said Dr B.Brahma, DHS Odisha.
