Bhubaneswar: Direct flight between Bhubaneswar and Surat will commence from January 1 next year, informed Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on Thursday.
The Civil Aviation Ministry has agreed to commence Air India direct flight between Bhubaneswar and Surat in Gujarat.
“Today, I’m delighted that my request to Civil Aviation Ministry to commence a direct AI flight between Bhubaneswar and Surat is granted. Will start from 1st January, 2020 (three days a week). Our Odia friends in Surat were wanting this,” tweeted Sarangi.
The Air India direct flight between Bhubaneswar airport and Surat will operate three days a week.
In July this year, Sarangi along with Surat MP Darshana Jardosh had met Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and had submitted a proposal in this regard.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik thanked Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri for honouring Odisha’s long-standing demand to operate direct flight from Bhubaneswar to Surat.
He said the tri-weekly flight will immensely benefit people of Odisha and will give a huge boost to tourism and trade.
