BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government on Saturday confirmed two sunstroke-related deaths while announcing Rs 50,000 compensation to the deceased families on account of sunstroke from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).
The state government has received alleged 73 death cases due to sun stroke while district collectors inquired 24 cases. Out of this, two death cases were confirmed due to heat stroke, said special relief commissioner (SRC) Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra.
The two death cases were confirmed from Angul and Balangir, he added.
He said the government is providing drinking water in rural areas while 1000 tankers have been pressed into service in the rural areas.
Meanwhile, the temperature across Odisha has shown rising trend forcing normal life out of gear.
Bhubaneswar met director Sarat Chandra Sahu said the temperature would hover above 40 degree Celsius.
