BJD set to form councils in Champua, Baliguda

BHUBANESWAR: Continuing its winning streak, the ruling BJD is all set to form councils in the newly-constituted Champua and Baliguda notified area councils (NACs) the results of which were announced on Thursday.

The ruling party won nine seats each in the 13-ward NACs.BJD

As per the results announced, nine BJD candidates each in Baliguda and Champua have already won. In Baliguda, Congress managed to grab three wards while BJP got only one ward.

In Champua, independents have won in four wards out of 13 wards.

Notably, the elections were held in the two NACs on January 19. Around 74 per cent of voters had exercised their franchise in Baliguda and 83 per cent in Champua.

Despite high voltage campaigning in the two NACs by both Congress and BJP, they failed to impress the voters.
