Snowfall in Daringibadi ‘Odisha’s Kashmir’

PHULBANI: Normal life paralysed as residents shivered in nail-biting cold with snowfall occurring at Daringibadi in Odisha’s Kandhamal district on Saturday night.

This is the second time when snowfall has occurred here in the last two months which is known as the Kashmir of the state.

The first snowfall of the season occurred December 29 at Budaguda region of the block. A layer of snow was found at various places in the area in the morning.

It is expected that the freezing cold might prevail here for some more days as temperatures went below zero degrees Celsius in the area.

People wearing thick winter garments came out of their homes in the morning to witness the snowfall as children played in the snow by making snowballs and hurling them at each other. Tourists are also thronging to enjoy snowfall in the area, as it is the only place in Odisha, where snowfall occurs during the chilly winter season.

Daringibadi is a hill station in Odisha gifted with natural bounties including pine jungles, coffee gardens and beautiful valleys. Daringbadi is set in a beautiful spot surrounded by thick rainforests with wild animals and is an ideal summer resort.
