BHUBANESWAR: What could fuel the wrangling among the party leaders already brewing in the party, the Odisha Congress leadership has denied its youth wing to hold mass agitation programme ‘Yuva Garjan Samabesh’ taking the plea that Congress high command has asked to observe MGNREGA Divas on February 2.
The Congress will run a nationwide campaign from February 2 against the dilution of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) completing ten years on Feb 2.
Notably, the youth wing of Odisha Congress had declared to organise ‘Yuva Garjan Samabesh’ against Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government in the state.
It had announced that it would organise the event to expose the failure of the state government on all fronts.
However, the denial of holding the agitation, supported by senior Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mahapatra (Lulu), may widen the rift with the Congress president.
The PCC president said that the youth Congress had announced to hold the Samavesh without the approval of PCC, which will hold MGNREGS Divas on the same day.
The party youth leaders were agog to hold the Samavesh, what they claimed that it could have given a big boost for the state’s youth Congress in coming days.
Buoyed by the success of egg-hurling at the BJD ministers, the youth leaders were trying to revive the organisation.
