BHUBANESWAR: The stage is all set for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) on February 7.
Modi is scheduled to reach NISER by helicopter at 9 am to inaugurate the national institute. A helipad has been created for him. The Prime Minister is scheduled to stay about one hour at the campus, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
The Prime Minister will interact with the students and the faculty members of NISER. He will deliver a speech to 3,000 students here.
He will also view a special three-minute audio-visual clip on the institute before addressing the scientific community of the state.
Modi is also likely to announce a Rs 25 crore sophisticated analytical laboratory to be set up inside the institute. The lab, to be funded by the department of science and technology, will cater to the needs of laboratories of several institutions in the region.
Established in 2007, NISER is an institute under the department of atomic energy (DAE). It offers integrated five-year master’s programme in various branches of basic sciences to students after their Plus-II apart from PhD programmes. It admits students through National Entrance Screening Test (NEST).
