BHUBANESWAR: Members of Odisha Bhasa Swabhiman Manch on Saturday tore off the poster and banners portraying photos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik put up at the statue of Madhusudan Das at Raj Bhawan here.
They resorted to tear off the posters after police did not take any action to dislocate the posters from the site.
The Manch claimed that the political parties are dishonouring Madhu Babu by installing hoardings and posters at the statue.
The Manch had lodged an FIR with the capital police station on Friday.
They said while Raj Bhawan area is known as ‘no hoarding zone’, fixing of hundreds of posters and banners around Madhu Babu statue has made common people angry.
Whoever the person may be, a poster of him or her can’t be fixed at the Madhu Babu statue. It is sheer disrespect to the Utkal Gaurav and the whole Odisha people, said Subash Patnaik, a Manch leader.
