Odisha nominates five brand ambassadors for Swachh Bharat

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government has nominated five noted personalities from different walks of life as brand ambassadors of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).

Eminent Odia singer Prafulla Kar, international sand artist Sudarsan Patnaik, sprinter Anuradha Biswal, woman Grand Master Padmini Rout and Director, AIIMS Bhubaneswar Prof AK Mohapatra have been nominated as brand ambassadors of SBM, said a notification issued by the Housing and Urban Development (H&UD) Department.

While the flagship cleanliness programme of the central government Swachh Bharat Mission remains a major focus area for Smart City project, the ambassadors of SBM would engage themselves in creating awareness among the public on sanitation and garbage-free locality.

Aiming to ensure complete cleanliness and open defecation free premises in urban areas of Odisha, the state government would soon prepare a charter to mobilise volunteers to support the brand ambassadors in disseminating the cause.

The centre has set October 2, 2019, as the target for the accomplishment of SBM.
