BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday ordered an administrative probe into the proposed construction of Jagannath Temple by ISKCON.
Chief Minister had directed Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Central Division) to conduct inquiry into the matter and submit a report on the proposed construction of Jagannath Temple within 60 days.
The Odisha government had asked Puri district collector to submit a report after examining whether the Puri-Konark Development Authority (PKDA) has granted permission to ISKCON to construct a “Jagannath Temple” near the main temple located at Bada Danda in Puri.
The matter came into limelight after senior BJP leader Bijoy Mohapatra alleged that ISKCON is planning to construct a Jagannath temple, in Puri. However, ISKCON had clarified that they propose to install idols of Radha and Krishna.
