NEW DELHI: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought action over the alleged farmers’ suicide in Odisha from six district collectors and police superintendents.
The Commission passed the order acting on a petition filed by a Supreme Court lawyer.
The petitioner has requested the NHRC to investigate the alleged farmers’ suicide case and direct the state to take legal action against the errant officials and pay compensation of Rs. 30 lakh to the family members of the deceased farmers.
