Jessy undergoes polygraph test

Polygraph test of Jessy conducted over Raja’s death

BHUBANESWAR: A day after television actress Pralipta Priyadarshini alias Jessy was arrested for inciting another Odia actor Ranjit Patnaik alias Raja to commit suicide, the police on Wednesday conducted polygraph test of Jessy.

The polygraph test of Jessy was conducted at the State Forensic Science Laboratory at Rasulgarh here. The lie-detection test could not be held on Tuesday due to some technical glitch in the machine.

Jessy was sent to judicial custody for 15 days after her bail plea was rejected by an SDJM court in Soro town of Balasore.

The tele actress was arrested under Section 306 of IPC for abetting Raja to commit suicide.

“There was evidence that she abetted the actor which pushed him to take the extreme step. Jessy had taunted the actor in connection with his professional success that night,” said the Balasore SP Niti Sekhar.

The SP said the accused is relatively more successful than the victim.

“On the day of the incident, Jessy and Raja had gone to a musical programme where the accused was invited, and the victim was not invited, but he had accompanied her. The organisers requested the victim to perform at the event as another actor, who was supposed to perform at the event, did not turn up. After the show, the actor was paid Rs 2, 000 and the actress was paid Rs 27, 000 following which the accused verbally abused the victim over his capability and self-respect,” said SP.

He said the money matter led a verbal duel between the two in the vehicle after which the actor told the driver to stop the car so that he can go out to relieve himself. He climbed over the parapet of the bridge and jumped to death.
Raja jumped to death from a bridge in Balasore district on February 7 night.
