Police in search of Raja’s iPhone 6 Plus gifted to Jessy!

BHUBANESWAR: The police are in search of an Apple iPhone 6 Plus gifted by slain Odia actor Ranjit Patnaik alias Raja to actress Pralipta Priyadarshini Samal aka Jessy, who is cooling her heels in judicial custody after being arrested for allegedly instigating Raja to commit suicide.

Raja allegedly committed suicide on February 8 night during their return from an event in Balasore. According to police, Raja took the extreme step following a heated exchange of words over sharing of remuneration received from the organisers of a stage show.

According to local media reports, Raja who was in love with Jessy had gifted an Apple iPhone 6 Plus to Jessy succumbing to her demand.

As the Apple iPhone 6 Plus priced at over Rs 84,000, Raja had ordered it on a monthly instalment at Rs 7,046. Raja had surprised Jessy by gifting the phone in November this year. While the mobile phone was not available in Odisha market, the Odia actor had ordered it from an online platform, said the media reports.

Jessy had thrown a party for her co-stars to celebrate Raja’s iPhone gift to her, the report added.

However, this phone is missing since the arrest of Jessy on charges of abetting Raja’s suicide and the Soro police are looking for the iPhone, said the report published in Prameya, an Odia news daily.

Quoting the television industry sources, the report said that Raja was very caring towards Jessy.
He would regularly gift her costly articles, including electronic gadgets, to cement her place in her heart.

Meanwhile, the district sessions court, Balasore has posted the hearing of Jessy’s bail plea on March 1. The lawyer of Jessy argued that there no evidence of Jessy instigating Raja to commit suicide even there was a quarrel between them.
