Shifting Of Wagon Factory: Congress Declares Kalahandi Bandh On April 6

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Congress on Monday announced of resorting to Kalahandi bandh on April 6 protesting the shifting of the proposed rail wagon repair factory from Narla in Kalahandi district to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary Bhakta Charan Das informed that the district Congress unit would hold the 12-hour bandh in protest against the shifting of wagon factory to Andhra Pradesh.

Das said the party would raise the issue of central neglect and inefficiency of Odisha government to present the issue before the union government.

Notably, there was hue and cry across the state after it was revealed through an RTI reply that the proposed wagon factory had been shifted from Narla to Vizag in view of better facilities.

Informing that the wagon factory was proposed in the Union Rail Budget by UPA government, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan had earlier alleged that both the central and state governments are not serious about development of railway infrastructure in Odisha.

The shifting of the wagon repair unit also echoed in the state Assembly.
