100 Aahar Centres Opened In Odisha


CUTTACK: Odisha government on Thursday opened 100 Aahar centres across the state to provide a cheap meal to poor people visiting the urban areas for their work.

Under the Aahar scheme, the state government provides rice and dalma at Rs 5 at the centres located in different district headquarters and industrial towns.

Launching the second phase of Aahar scheme at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Cuttack here, the chief minister said the scheme would benefit over 60,000 poor people every day.

Under the 100 Aahar centres, four have been opened in Cuttack and five in Bhubaneswar.

Last year on April 1, the chief minister launched the cheap meal scheme in all five municipal corporations – Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Rourkela and Sambalpur.
