ROURKELA: The union ministry of human resources development has asked the chairperson and director of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela to resign within 7 days over the controversy surrounding award of PhD to students.
The ministry has asked NIT director Sunil Kumar Sarangi and Board of Governors (BoG) honorary chairperson Vasanta Ramaswamy to put in their papers for the alleged administrative tussle, said sources.
According to sources, both the director and chairperson were asked last week to appear before the Ministry for clarification over the controversy.
However, NIT director Sunil Kumar Sarangi said that he had not received any communication from the ministry.
“I have not received any official communiqué. I am delivering my duties properly,” said Sarangi.
Sources said both director and chairperson have indulged in a power struggle over controlling the administrative issues of NIT, Rourkela.
