Odisha Govt Disburses Rs 333 Cr To Drought Affected Farmers So Far


BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government has so far disbursed Rs 333 crore to 7.87 lakh drought affected farmers in the state, said an official on Friday.

Informing that the disbursement of money to the drought affected farmers is on, the official at Special relief commissioner’s office said that they have already disbursed Rs 333 crore.

Notably, 27 districts of Odisha have been affected by drought. The government has calculated that out of 21.6 lakh hectare, 14.82 lakh hectare in 233 blocks have suffered losses to the tune of 33 percent or more.

In order to mitigate the drought situation, the Odisha government submitted a memorandum to the centre pegging the cumulative losses at Rs 2344.99 crore.
