Heat Wave In Odisha Continues Despite Rain


BHUBANESWAR: Heatwave prevailed in Odisha despite rains and thunder squalls in isolated places on Saturday.

14 places in the state recorded temperature above 40 degree Celsius. The highest temperature of 42.5 degree Celsius recorded at Sundargarh followed by Angul 41.7 degree and Talcher 41.6 degree.  Bhubaneswar recorded 40.9 degree Celsius.

The death of 16 persons due to sunstroke has been confirmed after enquiry.

In 73 cases out of total 168 reports of alleged death due sunstroke received from different sources, the death has been found to have occurred due to other reasons, said an official of special relief commissioner’s office.
