Monsoon To Hit Odisha Coast By June 8


BHUBANESWAR: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday said the south-west monsoon would hit Odisha coast by June 8 that would bring relief to people from the scorching sun.

“The monsoon is likely to hit Odisha by June 8. it would reach the Andaman and Nicobar islands in the next three or four days,” said an official of Met Department, Bhubaneswar.

Notably, IMD has predicted an early onset of the south-west monsoon this year.

Besides, the official said that a low-pressure would be formed over the Bay of Bengal in next 24 hours.

The state would experience rainfall by May 18 under the impact of low pressure, the official also added.

Meanwhile, the state witnessed a decrease in temperature at several parts of the state.

    The met department had earlier predicted that monsoon may hit Odisha coast by June 8. It, however, revised its prediction as the onset of south-west monsoon this year over Kerala is likely to to set over Kerala on June 7. So Odisha may experience monsoon rainfall in the second week of June.
