Odisha Mulling To Introduce Milk, Paneer Under Mid-day-Meal Scheme

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government is mulling to introduce flavoured milk and Paneer under Mid-day-Meal scheme (MDM) in schools across the state.

With the increasing milk production in the state, the Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department has proposed the School and Mass Education department to introduce the school milk programmes in the mid-day-meal scheme, said an official.

The proposal is now pending with the department, he added.

The official said development commissioner would take a meeting over the proposal for introduction of flavoured milk and Paneer in mid-day meal scheme.

Notably, OMFED is facing the heat following increase in milk production in the state. Milk farmers are staging protests across the state demanding procurement of milk from them. They were also pouring milk on the road as a mark of protest.
