Orphan Students To Get Free Higher Education In Odisha


BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday approved a new scheme ‘Green Passage’ to provide higher education at free of cost for orphan students in the state.

The state government would bear all the cost for orphan students pursuing higher education from Plus-II level to doctoral degree level.

As per the scheme, the orphan students will not have to pay the admission fee, tuition fees and laboratory fees for higher studies. Besides, they will also be provided free accommodation and food in hostels.

The scheme will function under the higher education department.

The Chief Minister has directed to implement the scheme in all government, private, and government aided colleges and universities.

As many as 16,382 orphan students are perusing higher education in 272 institutions across the state.
