BHUBANESWAR: Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to direct the managing committee to furnish few designs for the issuance of a commemorative coin of Lord Jagannath.
“I am writing to you regarding the issuance of Commemorative Coin of Lord Jagannath on the occasion of Nabakalebara Festival. Ministry of Culture has been requesting Chairman, Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee, Puri to furnish a few designs/photos of Lord Jagannath. However, the Managing Committee, Puri has sought time to finalise new designs/photos of the Deities,” said Pradhan in a letter to the Chief Minister.
He said the Ministry of Culture has been pursuing the matter with Temple Administration.
“In the interest of popular Odia sentiments on Lord Jagannath, I shall be grateful if you could kindly look into the matter and issue necessary advice to the Managing Committee, Puri to furnish a few designs/photos of Lord Jagannath expeditiously,” he added.
The Petroleum minister said this would enable them to take further action in the matter to release the commemorative coin of Lord Jagannath.
