ROURKELA: While chief security officer of Rourkela-based National Institute of Technology (NIT) is on the run, Rajesh Singh Solanki, under secretary in the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), on Friday started probing into the alleged sexual harassment case.
Solanki interacted with the officials and students about the sexual abuse by security officer Balaram Champatiray.
Meanwhile, NIT students have called off their agitation after a meeting between the students, teachers and employees in the presence of the institution’s director Sunil Sarangi.
“We can’t assess the character and intention of a person while appointing him. Their intentions are revealed when such incidents come to light,” said Sarangi.
Notably, the students had sought the intervention of Human Resource Development Ministry to deal with the sexual harassment issue in NIT.
Also, accused Champatiray has been suspended.
The security officer was caught on camera while allegedly sexually abusing his subordinate female security personnel in his office.
This fellow champatiray is an idiot. Back in 2009 when I was a student, this fellow raised an issue about the dressing of female students. Such a hypocrit ! He should be subjected to severe chastisement.
