BJD Admits of Rs 45 lakh Financial Transaction


BHUBANESWAR: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Friday admitted having given Rs 45 lakh from its SBI account in 2014. It, however, denied that the money was transferred to Sabyasachi Panda as alleged by former union minister Braja Kishore Tripathy.

In a hurriedly organised press meet, three BJD leaders Debi Prasad Mishra, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and Sameer Das said Rs 45 lakh was transferred through bank cheque from BJD’s A/C no 10091755246 to eight party candidates during general elections in 2014.

The money was transferred through cheque bearing number 441630 on 10 April 2014.

While Dilip Tirkey and Balabhadra Majhi received Rs 7.5 lakh each, Prafulla Pangi, Sakuntala Laguri and Nagendra Pradhan received 5 lakh each. Besides, Rajiv Patra, Saiba Susil Hansda, and Motiram Naik received 5 lakh each.

Stating that Braja Tripathy has misled the people of the state, the BJD demanded an unconditional apology from the former union minister.
