ROURKELA: For inclusion of Rourkela in Smart City projects, Chief Secretary on Thursday directed the ULB to finalize the upgradation proposal.
Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi directed the ULB in a meeting held at secretariat here.
Most importantly, the ULB would have to prepare the final project plan by 25th June. The proposal would reflect the peoples’ aspiration and community needs.
“Around 24 aspirational points have been identified. Rourkela Municipality would finalize the draft including all these inputs. We will send the project to the Government of India by 30th June,” said Padhi after the meeting.
“In the meeting, we discussed the vision statement of Rourkela Smart City,” Padhi added.
The district administration along with Rourkela Municipal Corporation will upgrade the city’s physical and social infrastructure. They also need to upgrade waste management and city development plans. Because Rourkela has a keen eye to come out successful in national level competition.
The essential components of the smart city project included riverfront development at Panposh, connected neighborhood, complete streets, 24×7 water supply.
Besides, the project included multi-utility citizen service, children and senior citizen friendly civic life, transport complex, housing and social infrastructure.
Furthermore, development plans included entrepreneurship, smart corridor, core business and core institutional area, tribal art and culture.
